Easy Creamed Chicken Sandwiches

2 13-oz. cans chicken breast
1 c. chicken broth
2 t. dried, flaked onions
1 t. chicken soup base
pepper to taste
10 to 12 saltines or buttery round crackers, crushed
6 to 8 soft sandwich buns, split and warmed


Add chicken with liquid to a large saucepan; break up with a fork. Add enough chicken broth to cover chicken. Stir in onions, soup base and pepper; add crushed crackers and stir. Simmer over low heat until heated through. Mixture will thicken up as it sets. May be transferred to a slow cooker to keep warm. Serve on warmed buns. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
