Jelly French Toast

12 slices bread
3/4 c. favorite flavor jam or jelly
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. milk
1 t. sugar
1/4 t. salt
1/4 c. butter, softened


Assemble 6 sandwiches using bread and jelly or jam; set aside. Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar and salt in a shallow bowl. Dip each sandwich into egg mixture. Cook one sandwich at a time on a preheated, buttered waffle iron, about 5 minutes per side, until crisp and golden. Makes 6 sandwiches.
