Pecan Sandies

Enjoy this recipe from Old-Fashioned Country Cookies.

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1-1/2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1/2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped pecans
Garnish: white sugar or red & green sugar sprinkles for Christmas


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and shortening; gradually add 1 cup sugar and cream again. Mix together dry ingredients; gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts. Chill 1/2 hour. Shape into 1" balls; place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Flatten balls to 1/3" with the bottom of a glass (slightly moisten bottom) which has been dipped in white sugar or red/green sugar. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
