Picnic Chocolate Cake

2 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 t. salt
2 sticks margarine
4 T. cocoa
1 c. water
2 eggs
1 t. baking soda
1 t. vanilla extract
1/2 c. buttermilk

Frosting:
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 stick margarine
4 T. cocoa
6 T. buttermilk


In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar and salt. In a small saucepan, heat margarine, cocoa and water. Stir chocolate mixture into flour mixture until smooth. Add eggs, baking soda, vanilla extract and buttermilk. Mix until smooth and then pour into a 13"x9" pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes. Prepare Frosting: place powdered sugar in a large bowl. In a saucepan, melt, do not boil, margarine, cocoa and buttermilk. Add to powdered sugar and mix well. Let cake stand for 5 minutes before frosting; frost while cake is still warm.
