2-1/2 lbs. bone-in pork chops
1/2 t. salt, divided
1/2 t. pepper, divided
1 T. oil
4 onions, diced
1 c. celery, thinly sliced
32-oz. jar sauerkraut, drained
1/2 t. garlic powder
6 potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
1 c. white wine or chicken broth
1/2 c. sugar
Season pork chops with 1/4 teaspoon each salt and pepper. In a large skillet over medium-high, brown pork chops in oil on both sides. Remove pork chops to a plate; set aside. Add onions, celery and sauerkraut to skillet. Sauté for 5 minutes, or until golden; season with garlic powder and remaining salt and pepper. Fold potatoes into sauerkraut mixture; transfer to a lightly greased 13"x9" baking pan. Arrange pork chops on top. Whisk together wine or broth and sugar; pour evenly over top. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Serves 4 to 6.
