19-oz. pkg. bratwurst sausages
1 yellow onion, sliced and separated into rings
2 T. butter, sliced
3 to 4 12-oz. cans regular or non-alcoholic beer
5 hoagie buns, split
Optional: chopped onions
Brown bratwursts in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat; drain. In
a 4-quart crockpot, combine onion rings and butter. Transfer brats to
crockpot; add enough beer to just cover brats. Cover and cook on high
setting for about 2 hours, until brats are cooked through. Serve brats on
buns, topped with onions, if desired. Makes 5 sandwiches.
