2 c. all-purpose flour 3 t. baking powder 1/2 t. salt 2 T. sugar 1/4 c. butter 3/4 c. plus 1 T. milk, divided 12 Strawberries, hulled 2/3 c. powdered sugar 1/4 t. vanilla extract
Combine flour, baking powder, salt and sugar ina large bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender on 2 forks until mixture is crumbly. Add 3/4 c. milk, stirring just until moistened
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface; knead 4 to 5 times. Divide dough into 12 pieces into 3 inches circles on a floured surface. Place strawberries in center of circles. Bring dough edges up over strawberries, pinch ends to seal. Place biscuits on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes, until golden. Stir together powdered sugar, remaining one tablespoon milk and vanilla for glaze. Cool biscuits and drizzle with glaze. Makes one dozen. | |
