Chocolate-Covered Cherry Cake

2-21-oz. cans cherry pie filling
18-1/2 oz. pkg. chocolate cake mix
1 c. butter, sliced
2-1/4 oz. pkg. chopped pecans
2 T. sugar
Garnish: vanilla ice cream


Add pie filling to a lightly greased 13"x9" baking pan. Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over pie filling. Distribute butter slices evenly over cake mix. Sprinkle evenly with pecans and sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes. Serve warm, topped with scoops of ice cream. Makes 8 to 10 servings.
