1/2 lb. bacon 1 c. onion, chopped 1 green pepper, chopped 1 c. brown sugar, packed 2 6-oz. cans tomato paste 3 c. water 2 t. steak sauce 1/8 t. garlic salt 4 16-oz. cans butter beans, drained
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook bacon until crisp. Cut bacon into small pieces; return to skillet. Stir in remaining ingredients except beans. Simmer over medium-low heat for 30 minutes. Add beans to a lightly greased 13"x9" baking pan; spoon sauce over beans. Bake, uncovered, at 375 degrees for one hour, or until hot and bubbly. Serves 6 to 8.
