1/2 c. shortening 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. brown sugar, packed 2 eggs 1 c. sour cream 1 T. maple flavoring 2-3/4 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 t. baking soda 1 t. salt 1 c. chopped nuts
Maple-Butter Glaze: 1/2 c. butter 2 c. powdered sugar 2 t. maple flavoring 3 T. hot water
Combine shortening, sugars and eggs thoroughly; stir in sour cream and maple flavoring. In a separate bowl, mix flour, baking soda and salt together; blend into sugar mixture. Stir in nuts and drop by rounded tablespoonfuls, about 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for about 10 minutes or until almost no imprint shows when lightly touched. Cool; ice with Maple Butter Glaze. Heat butter until golden brown; mix in powdered sugar and flavoring. Stir in water gradually until icing is smooth. Makes about 4 dozen.
